How much do surf lessons cost in Canggu?
Beginner surf lessons in Canggu start from Rp 400.000 (approximately $35 USD) for a 2-hour group lesson. Private surf lessons start from Rp 650.000. All equipment, insurance, and ISA certified instruction are included.
Is Canggu good for beginner surfers?
Yes! Canggu is excellent for beginners. Beaches like Batu Bolong and Old Man's offer consistent, gentle waves perfect for learning. We guarantee you'll catch waves in your first lesson. The sandy bottom and warm water make it ideal for first-time surfers.
What's included in a surf lesson?
Every surf lesson includes: ISA certified instructor, surfboard rental, rash guard, insurance, beach safety training, ocean safety instruction, and personalized coaching. Just bring swimwear, sunscreen, and water!
Do I need to know how to swim?
Yes, basic swimming ability is required for safety. You should be comfortable in chest-deep water. If you're not a strong swimmer, let us know and we'll stay in shallower areas and provide extra support.
What's the best time for surf lessons in Canggu?
Early morning (6-9 AM) offers the best conditions with clean waves and less wind. We also offer afternoon lessons. The dry season (April-October) has the most consistent waves, but Canggu has surf year-round.
How long until I can surf on my own?
Most students catch their first waves in lesson 1 and stand up on the board within 2-3 lessons. To surf independently with good technique typically takes 5-10 lessons. Everyone progresses at their own pace - we'll support you every step!
